Molenbeek is alive. Anyone walking through the municipality will notice it straight away: the streets, squares and façades tell tales. Increasingly, these stories are being told through public art. During this guided walk of about two and a half hours, we take you on a tour of about fifteen artworks that not only embellish the neighbourhood but also instil meaning into its shared spaces. The walk calls attention to a wide variety of art forms: monumental sculptures, subtle interventions, mural paintings and temporary installations. Some works have been there for years and have become engrained in the collective memory of the community; others are recent and reflect the sense of dynamism and renewal that characterise Molenbeek today.

We will also explore how art engages with its surroundings and the residents – conversing, challenging, connecting, or offering comfort. What does it mean to create art for and inside a neighbourhood? How do artists deal with themes like heritage, identity or urban change? And what role does the community play in the creation and experience of these works? Whether you're an art lover, an urban explorer, or simply interested in seeing Molenbeek from a different angle – this walk offers a fresh look at the neighbourhood, its history and its future.
