Living Apartment Together
Berlin, Yves Degryse & NTGent
The facade of an apartment opens as if by magic, revealing a poetic glimpse of city life
A man with a lover who won’t return his calls. A latchkey kid with a microscope. A head-over-heels couple who suddenly see death, looming large. Living Apartment Together chronicles the lives of 13 residents of an apartment building and one dog. Their lives touch each other via a song seeping through the walls, a pizza delivery gone wrong, a fire alarm. On a life-sized projection, life unfolds in five apartments and a stairwell. Meticulously edited. The audience wears headphones and watches as live characters step out of the projection. All around, city life rushes by.
A sensory performance between film and theatre about the quiet beauty of the seemingly banal. About invisible synchronicity. About the realisation that every beginning is really a continuation.
Living Apartment Together is a creation of theatre-maker Yves Degryse, who co-wrote the screenplay with screenwriter Angelo Tijssens. Keep an eye on the weather and dress accordingly.
Co-presented by Kaaitheater.
